Our “We are ParkIndy” campaign introduces Ryan, a Supervisor who thrives in the late hours of Indianapolis’s bustling streets. While many people are winding down for the evening, Ryan is making sure enforcement runs smoothly and the city stays safe. Beyond work, he’s a night owl with passions that range from golf to cooking to exploring Indy in unexpected ways.
We asked Ryan five questions. Here’s how he responded:
Q: Are you naturally a night owl?
A: Absolutely. My shift is 1:30 to 11:30 p.m., so evenings and late nights have become second nature. Most of my friends are on similar schedules, so there’s always someone around. I’ve grown to love how the city feels at night — quieter, different, like it has its own rhythm that most people never see.
Q: What’s your relationship with cooking?
A: I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen. Tacos and burgers are my go-tos, but I’ll try any recipe I come across online. Some are hits, some are misses. One of my favorite experiments was a layered phyllo pastry filled with banana and cream — basically a gourmet pop-tart. Cooking’s creative for me, and it’s a way to wind down after a long shift.
Q: How did you get into golf?

A: Josh [ParkIndy Supervisor] introduced me just a few months ago. We started at the driving range, then tried out some local courses. I bought a starter set of clubs, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Golf teaches patience. The smallest adjustment to your swing can completely change the outcome. It’s humbling but rewarding.
Q: What’s your favorite way to get around Indy?
A: Honestly, scooters and bikes. I live downtown and usually leave my car parked at the office. Bike shares and the cultural trail make everything accessible — coffee shops, restaurants, little parks you’d never notice otherwise. Getting around on two wheels makes the city feel more personal.
Q: What stands out about your work at ParkIndy?
A: At the end of the day, it’s about safety and fairness. People may not always see that, but what we do makes the streets safer and keeps traffic moving. That’s something I’m proud of.
Ryan’s mix of adaptability, patience, and creativity defines his approach to life — whether he’s steering a late-night shift, perfecting a golf swing, or layering pastry dough. That versatility and is love for Indianapolis make him an integral part of ParkIndy.
