We Are ParkIndy: Honoring the People Behind the Meter
Parking is personal. It’s inherently about us. About our need to finding a space near the office. Our desire to pick up dinner without double-parking. About making it to an important doctor’s appointment, or a job interview, or a school recital on time. That’s the truth at the heart of curb management—every decision, every citation, every repaired meter ultimately supports someone’s day going more smoothly. And behind those decisions are real people—parking enforcement officers, meter mechanics, and frontline staff who show up every day to keep Indianapolis moving. They don’t just enforce rules—they make the city work for all of us. And that—the human behind the citation—sometimes gets overlooked.
That’s why we’re proud to launch We Are ParkIndy, a new campaign that shines a light on the real people behind the uniforms. From parking enforcement officers to meter technicians, these frontline professionals are not just enforcing the rules—they're helping keep our city safe, accessible, and moving.
Like the UK’s “Beyond the Badge” initiative, We Are ParkIndy is about more than job descriptions. It’s about people. Parents. Veterans. Lifelong Hoosiers. Artists. Coaches. Caregivers. Every week, we’ll be sharing their stories—what drives them, what they love about Indy, and why they take pride in serving the public.
By humanizing these roles, we also remind the public of their critical importance. Enforcement is not about punishment—it’s about fairness, safety, and opportunity. It’s what allows small businesses to turn over customers, ensures ambulances can reach the curb, and keeps sidewalks clear for pedestrians.
This campaign is just one piece of our effort to build a more connected, respectful, and efficient city. And it starts with seeing the people who help make it possible.
Because they’re not just enforcing the rules.
We are ParkIndy.
